Junior Golf

If your child has previously participated in clinics or lessons, please feel free to call the pro shop for assistance in placing your junior golfer. Please see the below descriptions of each option as well as the dates and times for each.

This summer, the five options for beginning and junior golfers at Albany Country Club include:

  • The Albany Introductory Clinic
  • Intermediate Skills Clinics
  • Private Lessons
  • Junior Golf Leagues and Area Competitions

THE ALBANY INTRODUCTORY CLINIC (RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 8 AND UNDER)

This option is suitable for children in their first or second year of golf. These clinics incorporate SNAG "Starting New at Golf" golf for younger beginners throughout the summer and selected elements of SNAG golf for older beginners during the first few days. This clinic is free for all members' children and grandchildren and is offered on the following dates.

Intermediate Skills Clinics (Recommended For Ages 9 And Older)

This option is suitable for juniors who have previously participated in the introductory clinics and who are eager to improve their current golf game. Juniors who sign up for these clinics should be prepared to spend approximately 45 minutes with instruction and another hour on the golf course with limited adult supervision. This clinic is free for all member's children and grandchildren, and is offered on the following dates.

PRIVATE LESSONS

This option is suitable for the intermediate and advanced junior golfer. Please inquire at the pro-shop to arrange for private lessons. In between lessons, junior golfers should plan to play in the Junior Golf League and arrange additional tee times with other junior golfers. Please inquire at the pro shop for lesson rates/ fees.

JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUES AND COMPETITIONS

For those juniors ages 10 and older who are interested in more competition, the Northeastern New York PGA Section conducts a series of events throughout the summer. There are nearly 200 kids from the Capital District from a variety of country clubs and courses that compete. For further information visit www.neny.pga.com and go to the Junior Golf tab. Additionally, Albany Country Club will be fielding a PGA Jr. League Team this year for children 13 and under. This is an introductory league that travels and plays other clubs.
